On the way to Sant Miquel de Balansat you’ll find many interesting restaurants where you can enjoy all types of cuisine, from typical Ibizan food to more varied and international dishes. Now let’s show you some of the best ones.
At the km 1 point of the road to Sant Miquel, before reaching Santa Gertrudis, you’ll find La Masía d’en Sort, a very special place, both for its architecture as well as for its food. It’s an authentic Catalan “masía” (typical catalan country house) with more than 200 years which first opened as a restaurant in 1976. It has a large terrace garden ideal for enjoying the summer evenings surrounded by flowers and orange trees. It also offers art in the form of an art gallery, as the walls are full of paintings of the artist Nieves Puente. It offers fine gastronomy which they define as “Mediterranean creative” cuisine. A true pleasure.
On the road to Sant Joan, on the kilometer 9.5, we find Nagai restaurant with Japanese fusion cuisine. The restaurant is housed in a two hundred year old “Casa Payesa” (traditional Ibizan rustic farmhouse) and it’s the result of a project between an Ibizan footballer and an Italian woman caterer. It is an ideal place to enjoy the terrace in the summertime and the fireplace in wintertime. On the menu you’ll find Japanese cuisine, such as sushi, tempura, makis and more, all made with premium quality ingredients such as organic rice and homemade wasabi. In the menu you’ll also find fusion cuisine dishes and exotic cocktails with interesting ingredients mixes, such as ginger.
On the road to Sant Miquel we’ll also find Amalur restaurant, considered one of the best restaurants on the island. They define themselves as a restaurant inspired in Basque cuisine with a Mediterranean vocation. It’s set up in a very nice country house. From their menu you can order dishes such as the mozzarella soup with candied tomatoes, lamb tenderloin with honey glaze, tuna tartar with onion paste and fresh foie gras on an apple base.
Shortly before reaching Santa Gertrudis there’s Can Caus restaurant, easy and traditional cuisine specialised on the Ibiza and sausages. With a beautiful terrace, the restaurant offers grilled foods with ingredients of the island, as well as typical Ibizan dishes such as “Ensalada Payesa” (Ibicenco salad) and “Arroz de Matanzas” (typical Ibizan rice dish). The owner of the restaurant also has a food company that specializes in typical local foods, such as cheeses and “sobrasadas” (spicy sausage), which are also available at Can Caus.
Also along the road to Sant Miquel we’ll find Can Pau Restaurant, runned by a Catalan woman cook, and which has been in business for over thirty years. It’s a vintage place located in a nice country house with a lovely terrace. Its cuisine is typically Mediterranean with great Catalan and Ibizan influences, as we can find esqueixada, escalivada (roasted vegetables), crostes, among other dishes such as steak tartare, trotters, etc. Among the desserts we highlight profiteroles and crema catalana.
In the village of Santa Gertrudis you’ll find Bistro La Plaza restaurant. This beautiful establishment has rustic decor, French music and a beautiful garden full of orange trees and palm trees. There you can find delicious dishes such as escargot (cooked snails), steamed mussels, onion soup, steak tartare and or a great and fluffy cheesecake for dessert.
And for ending this gastronomic journey on the Sant Miquel road, in the same town of Sant Miquel, we’ll find La Luna nell’Orto, an Italian and Mediterranean cuisine restaurant. They constantly renew their menu, offering dishes “made with love”, as they like to say. The best food products on the island products and an extensive wine list both, from Spain and Italy.
