Sal Rossa defense tower (or des Carregador tower) is situated in the Natural Park of Ses Salines in the south end of Playa d’en Bossa.
It was built in the 16th century in order to protect the inhabitants of Ibiza as well as to defend the salt ships from pirate attacks, hence its name.
Below the tower you can see traditional Ibicenco fishing huts where the fishermen of the area keep their boats.
Next to the tower are the first salt ponds of the park. If you go up the small hill behind the tower, you can see fantastic views of the beach.
